The
Stand For Children Team is a nonpartisan organization comprised of
representatives from Marion County service agencies that have been
active since 1997. In addition to advocating on behalf of children, it
also sponsors the Cents for Shoes program. The Cents for Shoes program
provides a voucher to any school-aged child attending a Marion City
or County school who is in need of shoes. Children are referred to the
program by teachers, principals, counselors, caseworkers, child care
workers, and others from our member agencies. The children can be
referred to the program once every 6 months.
This program has been supported
financially through grants from some of our member agencies as well as
many fundraisers throughout the year. Local groups, businesses,
churches, and people also contribute to the Cents for Shoes program. If
you are interested in donating, please call 740-387-6520, extension 123.
More information is available on the Stand For Children website at www.stand.org.
